The Carolina Street extension project connects the existing Carolina Street to Town Hall Drive through a roundabout. It also extends Foxglove Drive from Jeremiah Street to Carolina Street.
This project is a key piece of the Town Center Core Demonstration project, which is currently in development. The proposed Town Center Core Demonstration project site includes the area between Town Hall Drive (west) and future Foxglove Drive (east), and Jeremiah Street (north) to Carolina Street extension (south). The demonstration project site concept includes a new Wake County Library, apartments, retail space and parking. Construction on the Wake County Library began in late 2018 and is scheduled to open in late 2019/early 2020.
