The Morrisville Healthy Food Hub project was a four-year collaborative effort between the John Rex Endowment, Town of Morrisville, Western Wake Farmers Market, Morrisville Community Garden, Active Living by Design, and Community Food Lab. In addition to contributions made by the Town and Western Wake Farmers Market, the John Rex Endowment provided the Town with a grant totaling $210,000, which helped make the project feasible. The Morrisville Healthy Food Hub will also directly connect to the regional greenway system, making it accessible by foot or bike.
The Morrisville Healthy Food Hub project consists of two phases: Phase I, completed in 2018, consisting of construction of the green space, sidewalk for the farmers market and the community educational garden. Phase II will include construction of a dedicated vendor parking area for the farmers market. Funding for Phase II of the project was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 budget. Stay tuned for exciting updates on this project!
