McCrimmon Parkway Closed near NC 54 Through July; Detour Route In Place
The McCrimmon Parkway project is nearly complete! Once finished later this year, or early 2020, McCrimmon Parkway will extend east from NC 54/Chapel Hill Road to Aviation Parkway at Evans Road, creating a much-needed alternative route through Morrisville and alleviating some traffic congestion. Residents, visitor and businesses will benefit, as well as those who travel through our Town using these roads.
To ensure the safety of those working on the site and traveling in the area, a temporary closure is in place for McCrimmon Parkway near the intersection of NC 54/Chapel Hill Road. The closure will last about one month. Although the closure will cause delays, regulations require that the road be closed while work is underway near the railroad intersection, to ensure the safety of those working and traveling in this area.
A detour with signage is in place (shown below). All businesses in the area will stay open during the closure.
The NCDOT designated detour route from Davis Drive is left on Morrisville-Carpenter Road, then left on NC 54. The detour from NC 54/Chapel Hill Road is right on Morrisville-Carpenter Road, then right on Davis Drive. Signs will be in place alerting drivers of the closure as well as directions for detour routes. Church Street will be limited to local traffic only.
