Indian Creek Greenway and Trailhead
Since 2005 the town has been designing the Indian Creek Greenway and Trailhead. The project consists of 1.8 mile trail adjacent Town Hall Drive from Morrisville-Carpenter Road to McCrimmon Parkway. Public workshops were held to provide input for a preferred alignment. Based upon environmental restraints and public comments an appropriate route was determined. The trail runs through the natural environment of Indian Creek with a portion along the sidewalks of Town Hall Drive. A trailhead with playground equipment, shelters and bathrooms will be located at the intersection of Town Hall Drive and Morrisville-Carpenter Road. This $1.2 million greenway and its associated trailhead will be the largest greenway project to date in Morrisville. Fortunately, the town was awarded a $355,500 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to help pay for the Trailhead. Construction plans have been approved and the Town hired a contractor to construct the trailhead and greenway. This long anticipated project will begin construction on September 2nd and is estimated to be complete by spring. So, get the old bicycle tuned up and knock the dust of your running shoes. If you have questions or comments please contact the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department at 463-7110.
