Come put your skills to work in a dynamic, award-winning Planning Department; Duties include a mix of long-range and current planning and include researching and preparing land use and transportation plans and studies; reviewing and tracking transportation facilities and Traffic Impact Analyses as part of the development review process; coordinating with Parks and Recreation Department on pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure improvements; coordinating with other agencies on land use and transportation planning issues; collecting and maintaining data for use in studies and analyses; helping to staff the Planning and Zoning Board, Board of Adjustment, and Town Council; assisting with special projects to help implement the Town’s adopted plans and planning mission; Providing information and technical assistance to appointed and elected officials, general public, development community, and other stakeholders; and perform other tasks as required. Must have strong oral and written communication skills; undergraduate degree in city and regional planning, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, or related field, and one (1) year of experience in planning or related field required, Master’s degree a plus. Hiring Range: $43,563 - $46,216. Please provide a writing sample with the application. |
Writing Sample: Since the position will require a good amount of writing, we would like to get an idea of each applicant's writing ability. The writing sample can be a short paper, a complete plan that an applicant has written, a technical report, an essay, or Briefing Sheet-type product and does not necessarily need to be Planning related. We are not looking for a specific type of writing sample but something that best shows the writing ability of each applicant.
