Morrisville Comprehensive Transportation Plan
The Town has hired Kimley-Horn and Associates to help staff prepare a major update to the adopted 2009 Transportation Plan. The Transportation Plan includes elements focusing on roadways, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, as well as future transit routes and facilities. The proposed plan update will be comprehensive in nature, with data and analysis backing up the policy recommendations. The plan update will include revising the recommended cross-sections for state and local roads in the Transportation Plan as well as updating the implementation tasks. Of particular focus will be prioritizing needed roadway improvement projects and potential funding sources, updating proposed transit routes in coordination with the Wake County Transit Investment Strategy work, and ensuring the bicycle and pedestrian element of the Plan is coordinated with the 2011 Parks & Greenways Master Plan.
The Update process is expected to take approximately 1 year, with the final updated Plan going to Council for adoption in Summer/Fall 2017.
