Yard Waste
Collection
Yard Waste is collected twice each month on Wednesdays for households receiving curbside solid waste services, as follows:
  • Green and Yellow routes - collected the first and third Wednesdays each month
  • Red, Blue and Purple routes - collected the second and fourth Wednesdays each month

Please have your yard waste items at the curb no later than 7:00 AM on your designated yard waste days.  During months containing five weeks, yard waste will not be collected on the fifth Wednesday


Items

Yard Waste must be handled correctly to ensure pick-up.  Do not place yard waste in your garbage can.  Bundle or bag yard waste as required and neatly place it at the curb.

Waste Industries will allow the use of a reusable container, however each resident must adhere to the following or the container will not be collected:

- Containers must be 
35 gallon or smaller 
- Containers will not exceed 50 pounds in weight
- Containers will be limited to 5 or less**
- Uncapped containers must have the ability to drain water
- If there is any trash in the container, it will not be collected

**As always, when you have excess yardwaste, please call the Solid Waste line at 919-463-7070 to ensure collection.**
*** Be advised that neither the Town of Morrisville nor Waste Industries will be liable for damaged or broken personal containers.***

Acceptable items are as follows:

Leaves Bagged - Yard-Waste Specific Paper bags or your reusable container (No Clear or Solid Color Plastic Bags)**
Grass Clippings Bagged - Yard-Waste Specific Paper bags or your reusable container (No Clear or Solid Color Plastic Bags)**
Dead Plants* Bagged - Yard-Waste Specific Paper bags or your reusable container (No Clear or Solid Color Plastic Bags)** 
*Excess dirt must be removed.
Small Brush / Shrub Trimmings Bagged - Yard-Waste Specific Paper bags or your reusable container (No Clear or Solid Color Plastic Bags)**
Large Brush / Shrub Trimmings Cut down to less than 4' length, 10" diameter, and tied with string into bundles that are less than 4' length, 2' width, and do not exceed 50 pounds each
Tree Limbs Cut down to less than 4' length, 10" diameter, and tied with string into bundles that are less than 4' length, 2' width, and do not exceed 50 pounds each
Cut Trees Cut down to less than 4' length, 10" diameter, and tied with string into bundles that are less than 4' length, 2' width, and do not exceed 50 pounds each
Dirt, lumber or wood, bricks or blocks, containers, planters, or any inorganic materials  Not Collected
Christmas Tree Collection Waste Industries will collect your Christmas trees on your normal yard waste collection days in the month of January. Additionally, the 3rd Wednesday in January is the designated Christmas Tree collection day for all residences in case you missed your normal yard waste collection day. 

Please be advised -
*  Christmas trees over 6 feet in length must be cut in half for collection
*  Remember to remove your tinsel and ornaments from the trees before collection

If you have a large amount of yard waste that you have bagged yourself, call the Public Works Solid Waste line at 919.463.7070 or alert Waste Industries directly (Phone: 919.596.1363) as soon as possible.   Waste Industries can then assess space availability on the truck for your route.  Bundles and bags shall not exceed 20 in total per pick-up.

Remember that this is a residential service for Town residents who receive curbside solid waste services from the Town's contractor - Waste Industries.  If landscapers do yard work at your home, they are responsible for hauling away the yard waste generated.
