2018 Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan
The Parks and Recreation Master Plan serves as a guiding document for department operations and capital investments in future recreation facilities. The Town adopted its first Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2002. Due to the rapid growth and changing demographics in Morrisville, the plan was updated in 2006 and again in 2011. Due to the continued growth in the region, the Town Council authorized an update to the master plan that began in 2017.
Over the past several months, the Town staff has been working with consultants from the John R. McAdams Company to update the plan. McAdams enlisted support from PROS Consulting for expertise in recreation operations planning and ETC Institute to perform a statistically valid citizen survey. The consultants performed an evaluation of our current facilities, programs and department operations. They also gathered feedback through open houses, information stations at special events, work sessions with Town Council, staff and our volunteer advisory committee and a benchmark survey of similar and larger public recreation agencies. The information generated from this effort was used to develop a draft master plan that is now ready for review by the public and Town Council. You can view draft plan and provide comments through an open portal until April 2.
Staff will also be hosting a public open house prior to the Town Council meeting on April 10 from 4pm – 6:30pm and Town Council will be accepting public comments during the meeting starting at 6:30pm.
