What building code is enforced in the Town of Morrisville?
We enforce the North Carolina State Building Code which is based on the International Building Codes. A list of the current codes can be obtained from:

Some examples of projects requiring permits and inspections are:
Room additions
Decks
Roofs over decks or porches
Finishing basements
Bonus rooms and attics
Lawn irrigation systems
Accessory buildings
All installations or modifications to electrical, plumbing and mechanical, heating or air conditioning systems.

Can I, as homeowner, do my own work?
Yes, if you own the property and will be living in the home for 12 months after completing the work. Permits and inspections are still required.
