As part of the McCrimmon Parkway Extension project currently underway, McCrimmon Parkway will be closed near NC 54/Chapel Hill Road for railroad work. The closure will last 2-3 weeks. While this closure will cause delays, it is required to ensure the safety of those working on site and traveling in the area. The detour route for this work is listed on the reverse side. Signs will be in place alerting drivers of the closure as well as directions for detour routes. While we do not have a specific date for the start of the closure at this time, message board signs will be posted 10 days prior to the start of the closure. Once we are notified of a date we will post here.
The NCDOT designated detour route from Davis Drive is left on Morrisville Carpenter Road, then left on NC 54. The detour from NC 54 is right on Morrisville Carpenter Road, then right on Davis Drive. Signs will be in place alerting drivers of the closure as well as directions for detour routes.
To maintain safety and assist with the flow of traffic, Church Street and Page Street will be closed at Morrisville Carpenter Road. Church Street traffic will be routed to Jeremiah Street then to Town Hall Drive.
Officers will be on scene assisting with traffic flow at McCrimmon Parkway and Davis Drive, and at Town Hall Drive and Morrisville Carpenter Road during peak traffic hours from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Police will also be monitoring Jeremiah Street which will have temporary speed tables to maintain safety.
Voters approved the Transportation Bond Referendum in November 2012 and the Town of Morrisville began work on Phase 1 of the McCrimmon Parkway Extension in November 2016. The Town has partnered with NCDOT on the project in order to leverage state transportation funding with the Town’s bond funding.
